Working with countries of Central and Eastern Europe and Asia as well as traditional "Third World" areas of Africa, Latin America, Middle East and South Asia, ATWA brings together policy and opinion makers, diplomats, development specialists, human rights activists, academicians, business executives and, other diverse people from many countries. CAPITOL HILL CONFERENCES where Members of Congress and staffers, ambassadors, and other prominent persons discuss important and controversial issues of broad concern. "Democracy in the new Millennium" was examined on March 13, 2000, in the Rayburn House of Representatives Building. Ambassador Baktybek Abdrissaev of Kyrgyzstan, Minister Branco Baricevic of the Croatian Embassy, Representative Stephen Chen of T.E.C.R.O.(Taiwan), former U.S. Senator Dennis DeConcini, Counselor Gregory Loginov of the Russian Embassy and Albert Santoli, Special Assistant to Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, spoke.
MEETINGS AT EMBASSIES on more specialized topics. Counselor Gregory Logvinov conducted a seminar on Russian-Asian Relations at the Russian Embassy on July 24, 2000.
